Warm Majlis Modern: a family living room in Kuwait City, designed to be bought.
The brief was a cozy room for a family. We designed it, visualised it in photoreal 3D, and priced every piece in it at two stores in Kuwait. What you see is what you can buy.

The hard part
Every item on the shopping list is in the renders. Nothing was invented to look good: the sofa, the rug, the lamps and the vases are real products on real shelves in Kuwait.

Beyond the renders
Four boards that make it buildable.
1Mood board and palette
Soft, low and warm. Boucle, wool, linen, oak, travertine and brass, with arches and niches that nod to Gulf architecture. Sand and cream carry the room; terracotta and olive come in from Kuwait's desert and gardens. Eight named colours, each with its hex code.
2Scaled layout and traffic flow
Three zones share one palette: conversation, media wall and a reading nook. A clear walkway runs from the entry to the window without crossing the seating, every walkway is at least 90 cm, and the clearances are drawn and dimensioned.
3Lighting plan with dimmer scenes
No single harsh ceiling light. Ambient, task and accent layers, all in one warm colour temperature, every circuit on a dimmer. Three scenes are set out for the family: Day, Evening and Movie.
4A shopping list you can buy today
36 real products, every one in stock at IKEA Kuwait or Home Centre Kuwait, with the price on the day we checked. The full look is KWD 1,118; a budget version with a few swaps comes in at KWD 885. Every item on the list is in the renders.
